GA4 Tip #2 – Configure Enhanced Measurement in GA4 Data Streams

When setting up Data Stream, the Events section displays the Enhanced measurement, which is enabled by default. It automatically measures some events from the web without the need of any further configuration. In addition to the essential measurement of page views, we can automatically measure scrolls, clicks, web searches, form, video, and file downloads.

The advantage of enhanced measurement is that you do not need to configure anything else, and events with some parameters are automatically sent to GA4. However, if you want to measure something extra, such as scroll depth, or errors in the form, we recommend creating your own event and parameters via Google Tag Manager (GTM). If you set up event measurement via GTM, remember to turn off the given event in enhanced measurement so that you do not have duplicated measurement.
