GA4 Tip #11 – Customize report navigation

The reports in GA4 have changed compared to UA as follows:

Anything you don’t find in the picture above, you have to create yourself. To work with reports, you need to understand their structure. There are three levels of reports in the Reports section:

  1. Collections – a set of reports (e.g. Life Cycle)
  2. Topics – topic reports (e.g., Acquisition)
  3. Report – specific reports (e.g. User acquisition). There are two types:
  • Overview report – a dashboard summarizing the entire topic
  • Detail report

Each GA4 has a preset report composition, as shown in the figure. However, we can change this side menu using Library. You can add a completely new collection of reports or change an existing one. Delete unnecessary reports or add new ones. You can add new reports from the Library or create your own. However, creating your own is partially limited.

The attribution reports have been moved under a different section called Advertising in the left main menu.
